Vienna, 03 September 2024 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its first Private Sector Partner-Expert assignment, facilitated by the sponsorship of Festo. Through a memorandum of agreement, Festo loaned Mr. Angora Aman’s services, an expert in vocational training at Festo, to UNIDO for a one-year term.
During his tenure, Mr. Aman became an integral part of UNIDO’s Fair Production, Sustainability Standards, and Trade Division, working closely with the Skills Development, Entrepreneurship, and Fair Production Unit (IET/PST/SEF). His work significantly contributed to the development of UNIDO’s flagship Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) in Côte d’Ivoire, where he actively engaged with the Ivorian private sector. Additionally, Mr. Aman played a key role in advancing skills-related projects.
In July 2024, a session was held to review the outcomes of this pioneering partnership modality. Mr. Aman highlighted his contributions, particularly his involvement in the PCP and support to the development of new skills programs for African youth. The partnership enabled a mutually beneficial exchange of expertise, enhancing both organizational impact and professional development.
“This first Partner-Expert experience characterizes the excellent cooperation between UNIDO and Festo. UNIDO’s activities have benefitted from Festo’s highly relevant assistance in multiple countries and settings. I look forward to the continuation of this fruitful partnership,” highlighted Mr. Gunther Beger, Managing Director of the UNIDO Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation.
Ms. Elfi Klumpp, Head of Partnership Development Global Education at Festo Didactic, emphasized the initiative’s value for Festo, noting that the partnership provided insights into the workings of an international organization and allowed the company to deepen its contribution to socioeconomic development in Africa. She expressed hope that this model would inspire other companies to pursue similar partnerships, thereby increasing impact.
This innovative partnership is a continuation of the long-standing collaboration between UNIDO and Festo Didactic on technical education, skills development, and youth employability. This cooperation has already yielded several successful projects, such as those implemented in Uruguay and Morocco, focusing on agro-industrial and water skills, respectively.
