STEP 1: Establish a Project Management Unit

This is step 1 in a step-by-step toolkit that explains the initial steps of implementing Public Private Development Partnership projects that focus on technical vocational skills training. The steps in this 8 part toolkit are likely to take place within the first 12 months of project implementation.

As a first step, a project management unit (PMU) has to be established for the PPDP project. It usually comprises a chief technical advisor and/or a technical coordinator who manage a national team. A master trainer (ideally seconded by the private sector partner) will spend time in the project to advise on technical matters.
