Skills Development for Fair Production and Sustainable Supply Chains
Shortages of skilled workers and systemic barriers hindering skill development among upstream suppliers pose crucial challenges in accelerating progress toward sustainable supply chains, the Sustainable Development Goals, and meeting the Paris Agreement commitments. This white paper, prepared under the overall guidance of the UNIDO Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation and its Division for Fair Production, Sustainability Standards, and Trade (PST), analyzes these barriers and identifies the essential sustainability skills required by upstream suppliers. To address the issues and establish long-term sustainability, collaborative solutions involving all actors in the supply chain are proposed.
