A PPDP Success Story: GGear
GGear is the main supplier and retailer of all LG Electronics products and exclusive partner of Hyundai elevators in Cambodia established in 2011. As GGear has faced the challenges of recruiting staff with required skills in providing maintenance service in the elevators and air-conditioning, GGear is interested in developing and providing training of trainers to TVET schools and support technicians and dealers with know-how and skills on the up-to-date technology of GGear.
In the Decent Employment Programme (Phase 2) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), UNIDO is leading the delivery of activities under Output 1.2 “Increase private sector engagement in TVET design and delivery”.
Hence, UNIDO supports the development of the public-private partnership between GGear and the Industrial Technical institute to develop curricula and deliver training of trainers on elevators. Furthermore, the partnership allows UNIDO and GGear to support the upskilling of technicians on aircon installation and maintenance.
