Improving the skills of managers at vocational training centres

TURIN, Italy, 30 October 2015 – Staff management and training, business planning, management of training delivery, quality assurance and public-private partnerships in skills development were the focus of a training course that took place today at the International Labour Organization’s International Training Centre in Turin.

This was made possible through the Learning and knowledge development facility (LKDF) programme initiated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

The LKDF programme aims to promote green industrial skills among young people in developing countries.

“The training course gives managers of vocational training centres the opportunity to strengthen their technical knowledge, as well as their analytical and managerial capacity. With the skills they acquire, they can improve the functionality of the centres that they run,” said Maximilien Pierotti, Chief Technical Advisor of a Public Private Development Partnerships (PPDP) project implemented by UNIDO in Morocco.

“Lifelong learning is important for managers of vocational training institutions. This course was very useful for me because I learnt a lot from the experience of other countries, and the way the governance of vocational training centres is organized,” said Souad Ouahbi, Head of the Planning Department of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training in Morocco.
